The Jumbo Abalone (South Africa) Set Menu for 2 at $288++
we've tried most of their set menus, so Cow went for this.

Smoked Duck: B4 the dish arrived, i seriously doubt this dish wld be tt appetising...
I had expected the smoked duck to be salty, a lil hard even... but i was
totally mistaken! The duck itself was so fragrant, the meat was
tender and the skin.... crispy n moist!
I was told to pair the duck with Onion.... i hate onions, but then, never
say never rite? Wow, the onion sure complimented the meat!
I def underestimated this dish

The halved Jumbo Abalone. The biggest ive had so far ( even tho it has been halved ).
East Ocean really does abalone well... the other place which i enjoyed Abalone was at
Ah Yat's...

King Prawn Noodle
I'm still not eating for two ( n i dun think i shd either )... by the time this dish
arrived, I had to 'donate' the noodles to Hubby. The Prawn was sweet... but
I was feeling quite jelart after the 1st 3 dishes, so i didnt quite enjoy the food.

Another winning set fr East Ocean... looking 4ward to their new offerings!
this set ever since he read abt it in the papers.....
The Hairy Crab Set @ $118 per pax.
Braised sharksfin with 3 small abalone

Xiao Long Bao with crab roe filling

check out the colour ofthe tasty/flavourful soup. Yuuuuuuum!
East Ocean's hairy crab isdef more worth it than the 1 which we had at Putien... There was so much roe
in it, i felt a lil pukey after savouring it.. can't waste food since it cost so much :P

Crab Roe Paste Noodles. By the time i got to this dish, i was stuffed to the brim.
I had to 'donate' it to Cow...

Hairy crabs are supposed to be 'yin' in nature, hence we were served a pot of Ginger
Tea when the crabs arrived.... Dessert was a Glutinous Sesame Rice ball with ginger
tea.

Hairy Crabs are only in season ard Oct/Nov or so i was told by the Captain,
so we'll be back next yr for another round :)
Our 2nd time in a week.... hubs rec some gd news at work, n wanted
a mini celebration. Initially wanted the family to come along, but my
mom had oledi made plans, my dad wanted to catch his fave show,
Kiddo refused to leave the house, so? its juz a dinner date for the
2 of us.
Its the 1st time we're trying this $144++ Per Pax set ..... also added
a plate of Foie Gras.... We both had this set, except, i upgraded my
'noodles' to lobster noodles instead of the crab noodles ( top up $10 ).
Had a craving for lobsters u see :P
1st dish: The usual Stone bowl braised SF soup ( u can see the
pix fr the numerous East Ocean entries )
2nd dish: Whole Abalone.... i very much preferred the half portion
Abalone which i had on the previous visit. That was so much
more tender as compared to this one.

3rd dish: Choice of Bamboo Clams or Fried Baby Lobsters with Pepper/Salt
I chose the latter.

4th Dish: My Lobster noodles, his Crab E-fu noodles

5th dish: Bird's Nest in Almond Cream

Sad to say, the Foie Gras didnt live up to my expectations

The sweet onion was redundant as the taste simply doesnt blend with the foie gras.
I still prefer those fr New Majestic Restaurant or Ember... this one simply Cannot
Make It.
Since Lei Gardens at Chijmes is undergoing reno, Cow decided
to head to another of his fave Chinese restaurant for dinner.
Chick refused to leave the house as she was watching her fave
cartoon :(
Whenever we're at East Ocean Teochew Restaurant, we'll almost
always go for their set meals.... i hate to order food, so does Cow.
He decided on their $122++ Per Pax Nutritious Abalone Set.
1st time we're trying this set, tho 3 out of their 5 dishes
can be found in other sets as well.
All pix by my new Samsung Omnia HD ( ok i nid to experiment on the
sharpness part of the cam :P )
Got really sick of their stone bowl braised SF soup, so this egg white clear
SF soup was a plesant change. Tasty yet light on the tastebuds, where
u can enjoy the truly enjoy the taste of the SF

We've tried Bamboo clams here on our numerous visits, but this time round, it was the best we've ever had. The clam was al dente and sweet!

Its the 1st time im eating such a big abalone. Looks can be deceiving fr the pix *LOL* but its huge ( even tho its only half a portion )!!! I took a long time eating this.... cant rem how many 'head' this abalone was, but boy was it tender and succulent. Cow saw how much i enjoyed it, n offered to pass some of his to me... i told him Nah, any more of it i'll feel jelart :P

The Lobster earned the same accolade as the Bamboo Clam

After i was done with the noodles, i was so stuffed, i had to skip the Bird's Nest Almond Cream dessert. I tabao-d back.
Sorry for the mth long hiatus... been busy with the new house/work/
been HELP-less for 1 wk plus after my previous helper returned to
Philippines after 4 yrs in Spore.

1 word to sum up the dining experience: Forgettable.
</div></span></div>
</div></span></div></div></span></div>
hubs felt a wee bit guilty for not bringing his dotter to East Ocean
for dinner last wk, so he made it up to her this wk by choosing
a pricier ( BUT way betta in terms of quality and taste ) set.
( SET DINNER )
MEET BANDUNG........ my latest and 4th Varina ........
SIROP............. fr Ferragamo's Spring/Summer 2009 Collection.
( SIROP )
This is 1 of our fave Chinese restaurants. The others being Tunglok
Signatures, Huang Ting & Lei Gardens. My dad decided to try ala carte dishes instead of our usual Sharksfin Set. Even 1 older waitress
commented, '' jin1 tian1 bu4 chi1 yu2 chi4 ? '' ( not having sharksfin
today? )... Nah, with so many choices, we shd explore their menu mah :P
( ALA CARTE DISHES )
Its been more than 6 mths since we last visited this restaurant. After we checked out
of the hotel, we drove over to Shaw Centre and my parents joined us there for lunch....
Hubs knew tt my dad's a fan of their set meal, so he ordered a total of 4 sets @ $69++ each.
( SOME VARIATIONS IN THE MENU )
Hubs knows my dad loves sharksfin soup, so he suggested going to EOTR for lunch.
its helper's off day today, so we 4 adults have got to take turns to entertain the
monster *roll eyes*
We ordered the Sharksfin set meal ( again ) for 4 pax...
Pls see Menu HERE btw, EOTR jacked up their prices for this set meal.
used to cost $65+++ per pax... now its $69+++.
1 dish is missing. n thats the abalone with rice ( i was too busy entertaining monster )
Food portions below r for 1 pax...
Choke-full of fins.
This set meal is v pop here... in fact, this place is sooooo crowded n noisy
really reminds me of those authentic HK restaurants :P

instead of the usual mango
pudding, EOTR replaced it with mango sago with pomelo ...absolutely DELISH!!!
While you're here, dun 4get to order their dim sum!
The siew mai is so well prepared, even my Monster wolfed down 2 at 1 go!
( rare by her standards ). The Almond dim sum contains prawn n the crisp
almonds really adds a nice touch to it... my dad loves their pan fried water
chestnut cake :)
EOTR is 1 of those restaurants which we keep going back to for obvious
reasons... but 1 thing i dislike abt it is, its TOO POPULAR...even with
reservations, u still have to wait ard 15-20 mins...
After trying their Sharksfin set meal on fri http://eatshopbemerry.livejournal.com/51
Hubs brought my parents there to eat today. After we checked out ard 1230pm, we drove
over to Shaw Centre to wait for them n monster.... Gosh.... even tho i made a reservation,
I think i waited for another 20mins to be seated...
Some samples of wat we ate... ( the whole menu can be found in the link above )

My parents were impressed by the quality.... they were quite shocked to see how packed
the restaurant is.... V pop indeed...
Monster got another ice-cream fr the same captain
quite nice of them to entertain the kids withice cream.... then adults can eat in peace *LOL*
*edited*
A few days later, this sharksfin set meal was featured in the papers..
