HEARTSHAPED CAKE

I juz hv to unlock this particular entry bcos I believe good things r meant to be shared, n i'm simply too impressed by this place. This 2-mth-old eatery really has the potential to go far.

ETA: muz thank my fren for recomm 7atenine. She attended
a concert @ the Esplanade last mth, and told me abt
this place. THANK U MY FREN!! ( she reads my blog, so muz
credit her for this *hehehe* )

I felt bad for 'abandoning' our fave restaurant, GARIBALDI, for 7atenine, but
HEY!!!!  *whispers* im glad we did *lol*

This is by far the most exciting place ive been to! I felt like Forrest Gump.... cos i never know wat i was going to get.... the menu is so 'cheem'!  Hubs whipped out his HTC HD, went online n we were actually looking up certain words while waiting for our dishes *LOL*

7atenine is helmed by Emmanuel Stroobant's Tu Di, Chef Florent ( or so i was told by 1 waiter ). At 1 pt, he even came by our table to thank us after hb told 1 of the managers how much i enjoyed the lamb ( n i DON'T even take lamb! )

Erm Folks, Will post pix 1st..... write-up tomorrow k?
V tired... been out the whole day. ballet classes, foot massage,
house-hunting, dinner.... so i'll leave u with pix fr our fantabulous dinner today :P

We decided  against al fresco dining as it was quite a warm day.  The interior is modern and tastefully decorated.

Romance is in the air, or rather on the table. Lovely touches :P

The 'naughty' menu with some risque names  *HEE*
I was surprised to see a V Day menu as i had enquired abt it when I called
them up to make a reservation (few days earlier). I was told they were only offering the normal menu. Hmmm, so it was a pleasant, VERY PLEASANT surprise. After scanning the normal menu, hubs decided to go for the VD menu with Veuve Clicquot ROSE ( we also had tt when we dined @ Gari's last yr ).  The Saffron Seafood Risotto looked promising, so we added 1 extra dish on top of the Vday Set.

All the dishes below were presented on a single plate, except for Sensalicious where u get yr own verrine

Our gift fr Veuve Clicquot. Pendant/necklace for moi, cuff links for Cow

say hello to ITCHY LIPS. when this arrived, the waiter told us the chef recommends tt we feed each other with it :P  Hubby, the obedient one,
quickly picked up 1 spoon n fed me... i was actually v embarrassed to do
it cos there were so many diners ard, i can be PAISEH one u know *Puke*
Aesthetically pleasing looking dish.... machiam work of art. Chef Florent
used Saffron in this masterpiece.  Initially i baulked at (eating) this dish.
No doubt it looked fab, but wont it taste weird, with so many ingredients?
Nah, the tot was rubbished with my 1st bite.  There was an initial 'explosion' of taste ( fr the lime ) which quickly settled within 3 sec, n everything just 'fell into place' NICELY. The aroma fr the flower petals complimented the dish well :)   hubs is a darn fussy fella when it comes to food.
He was skeptical abt this place as i had lured him away fr having dinner @ Garis, but after the 1st bite, he kept nodding his head in approval *phew*

Wanna Smoke?   v interesting concept! Waiter placed this container in front of us.... so we were both wondering, hey where's the smoke?
He promptly poured the 'soup' into the container n covered the lid. We were
told to wait for abt 2-3 mins opening the lid. He told us a wee bit of dry ice was added to the soup ( which is cold btw ), n its perfectly safe to consume.

Hubs did the honours of opening the lid, n woah, u get a whiff of the sherry!Lovely!

Hubs n I tot this was a v special dish. The cold soup tasted a lil sourish, but
even the Cow ( who's been known to avoid sour stuff ) lapped it up. The puree tasted great, n the vegs were crunchy. V gd mix of texture.

Though we loved it, the table next to us sent it back to the kitchen as
they tot it tasted weird.  hmmmm.

Ang Ku Kueh anyone?  *hahah* my 1st thoughts upon seeing this dish was,
'' Wow, Tao Sar Ang Ku Kueh? ''   i stared hard at it, n when the waiter
told us we've got to eat it with our bare hands ( disposable gloves provided ),
my jaw dropped ( a lil only :P ).   Now i understand why this dish is called
LET'S PLAY SAFE

Food seriously tastes betta when u use yr hands.

The piquillo was lightly browned n it lent a fragrant taste to the mousse.
Highly enjoyable n fun dish.

Now here's sth WET. Careful when you're eating this. the 'liquid' really spills all over the place if you're not careful. This dish wasnt tt memorable but it was good.

Here comes my FAVE DISH!!!
we dun take beef, so the chef substituted it with Lamb.  I dun take lamb actually. I even asked if they cld give us sth else.... but my request was
turned down. Oh well, i thought, maybe i'll juz give the whole plate to hubs.
Hubs asked me to try a tiny, real tiny piece. At his insistence, i did.  n NOW,
IM HOOKED!!!!!!    Absolutely delightful ok!! Medium done, but wow Wow WOW!!!

our additional order:  SAFFRON SEAFOOD RISOTTO.
What can i say, 1st mouth was good, 2nd mouth was better, subsequent mouthfuls were excellent! everything tasted so fresh

The strawberry textures didn't disappoint.

The passionfruit sauce was a lil too sweet, otherwise, it was quite a lovely combo :)

A thumbs up for this new eatery. Most of the dishes can be masterpieces on its own. The other place where i rem feeling excited abt the presentation of food was @ Gunthers. The excitement factor over @ 7atenine is def higher. Kudos to Chef Florent for introducing unconventional ways of eating + presentation.

PS:  do check out the Sunday Time's. Wong Ah Yoke reviewed this
restaurant in his column this week.

Thrilled to bits today.. Got my Vday gift + had dinner @ a wonderful place+
spent quality time with Da Cow....i feel really blessed.
